Don't fret on Beaujolais or the Gamay grape. This natural wine is a little kinky, but very tasty. Chiroubles, Beaujolais, France. 100% Gamay. Derived from the domaine's oldest vines—which were planted by Pauline's grandfather—the 2019 Chiroubles Claudius unwinds in the glass with aromas of peonies, rose petals, sweet red berry fruit and orange rind. Medium to full-bodied, satiny and more concentrated without being more extracted than its younger-vine counterpart, it's deep and sapid, concluding with a perfumed, mouthwatering finish.
